    could they be pistachio nuts? had I known about the previous week's mystery seed i would have posted an answer, they grow a lot over here in the UAE. the best, I've tasted though, came from Saudi Arabia.

    These seeds are not from a tree, although the plant and particularly the flowers, are edible. I checked, and it is originally from South America, but is grown worldwide now.
