I haven’t touted my nonfiction picture book here at the blog very much, but I just had to share what two educators recently posted on Twitter.
We LOVED this book! A great read aloud and inspiration for building and creating with found objects. How To Build an Insect was the perfect hook for our How-to writers this morning! #rvs @RobertaGibson @SarahThompsonSc pic.twitter.com/sGXtu2EjQq

You should click through and check out the photographs. My heart just melts when I see what the children have created.
How to Build an Insect 🐞Today the grade 1s used loose parts to create an insect. We will be starting our own “how-to-writingâ€! pic.twitter.com/AVBB7XdQkt

Not only were they inspired to build insects, but also Mrs. Lamirande used the text as a model, too. What a wonderful idea!
Have you shared the book? I’d love to hear from you.
Congrats, Roberta! Wonderful comments!
I’m so glad you shared this! I stumbled across your blog today and hadn’t heard of the book until I read your post. I have already asked our librarian to add a copy to the collection. My students LOVE to learn about insects!
That’s great to hear. Hope you enjoy it!
