Bug of the Week: Hackberry Butterfly

No cropping was needed to capture this hackberry butterfly (named for the fact its caterpillars feed on the foliage of hackberry trees.) It was willing to pose.

Note about the photograph from last week:

Did anyone spot the egg this queen butterfly had just laid on the milkweed vine?

    It’s so beautiful!

Roberta you too have a knack of getting butterflies to pose…

  3. Donna Catterick

Wonderful detailed shots. I especially like the last one – a storm of orange and the delicate egg. Great capture.

Thank you for your kind words.
