Seed of the Week: Fan Palm

Our mystery seeds last week were from a fan palm, most likely the Mexican Fan (Washingtonia robusta).

Mexican fan palms are a common sight in Phoenix.

The fruit, technically drupes, hang down in huge clusters. As they dry, they fall to the ground in large numbers.

I don't think the seeds look much like common seeds from some other palm trees:  dates (seed here)or coconuts. What do you think?
