The pods of these plants are chains of seeds linked together, almost like a string of beads.
Inside, the seeds look like this.

Our mystery seeds last week were from a fan palm, most likely the Mexican Fan (Washingtonia robusta).
Mexican fan palms are a common sight in Phoenix.
The fruit, technically drupes, hang down in huge clusters. As they dry, they fall to the ground in large numbers.
I don’t think the seeds look much like common seeds from some other palm trees:Â dates (seed here)or coconuts. What do you think?
